Ports of Call
Cruise from Liverpool
- Cádiz (tours to Seville): A salt-bright peninsula with quiet lanes and sea on three sides. Ride the train to Seville for the cathedral, Alcázar and tapas, or stay to climb Cádiz Cathedral and walk the coastal path. Markets around Plaza de las Flores keep lunch easy. Sunset here is usually worth waiting for.
- Ceuta: Spanish North Africa with stout walls and sea views. Walk the Royal Walls and water gardens, then look across the Strait towards Morocco. The small centre is tidy and compact for a café stop—a curious, photogenic crossroads of cultures.
- Tangier: A breezy clifftop city with a medina that tumbles towards the port. Visit the Kasbah Museum and the American Legation, then head to Cap Spartel if you want a vast horizon. The Petit Socco is suitable for a mint tea between lanes. Expect steps and colour in equal measure.
- Agadir: A long beach and a modern grid of streets. The hilltop kasbah gives the harbour view; the souk is best for spices and ceramics. Beach cafés keep things simple if you’re staying put. It’s a relaxed day with room to breathe.
- Arrecife (Lanzarote): Harbours, causeways and Manrique’s touch never far away. Timanfaya brings the drama; Jameos del Agua and the cactus garden bring the artistry. In town, Charco de San Ginés is the easy loop. Bright, breezy and compact.
- Las Palmas (Gran Canaria): History in Vegueta, swims at Las Canteras. A short taxi to the Alfredo Kraus end of the beach gives a quieter patch. The promenade is flat and forgiving if you want distance without fuss—plenty of shade and coffee stops.
- Vigo: Granite steps and seafood plates close to the pier. Castro Park offers the harbour view; Rua de Pescaderia sorts the oysters. Ferries to the Cíes Islands make a fine fair-weather plan. Trains to Santiago are straightforward if that’s your goal.
