Ports of Call
Cruise from Southampton
- Funchal (Madeira): Harbour calm and garden colour to start the run south. Cable car to Monte for vistas, then either the tropical gardens or a slow return through old streets. Levada paths give easy miles if you fancy a leg-stretch. A poncha on the front is the simple finish.
- Agadir: A long sweep of sand backed by cafés and boulevards. The hilltop kasbah gives the classic harbour view, and the souk handles spices and ceramics in one stop. Beach walks are flat and forgiving. It’s a relaxed, sun-forward day.
- Casablanca: Ocean-fronted city with energy and a world-class mosque. Visit Hassan II for scale and craft, then the Corniche or Habous quarter for a softer shift. Art Deco traces in the centre reward a short wander. Taxis make the distances manageable.
- Tangier: Clifftop light and a medina that rolls to the sea. The Kasbah Museum and American Legation frame the story; Cap Spartel adds the horizon. Petit Socco cafés are ideal pauses between lanes. Expect steps, blue doors and salt air.
- Lisbon: Tiled façades, viewpoints and tramlines above the Tagus. Belém’s monuments pair with custard tarts; Bairro Alto changes the tone after lunch. Time Out Market simplifies choices if minutes are tight. It’s friendly to first-timers and rewarding for repeaters.
- La Coruna: Atlantic curve of beach and quay with the Tower of Hercules for the postcard. The old quarter’s small museums and bars sit close together. Aquarium Finisterrae is handy in mixed weather. The promenade back to the ship is an easy walk.
