Ports of Call
Cruise from Liverpool
- Gibraltar: A British outpost with Mediterranean light. Ride the cable car, meet the macaques, and explore the wartime tunnels. Small, steep, memorable.
- Valletta: Sandstone bastions and narrow streets. Visit St John’s Co-Cathedral and the Grand Harbour lookouts. Compact, cultured, and full of views.
- Dubrovnik: City walls above bright water. Walk the ramparts early, then pause in a shaded square. A classic stop that rewards timing.
- Hvar Town (Hvar Island): A pretty harbour with lavender hills beyond. Climb to the Spanish Fortress and swim if the weather’s kind. Lively cafés meet island calm.
- Koper: Venetian traces and a lived-in feel. Wander Titov Trg and the waterfront, or head to nearby Piran. Easy to explore in a few hours.
- Zadar: Roman ruins and sea organ notes on the quay. Visit the Forum and watch the sunset installation—old stone with playful touches.
- Split: Diocletian’s Palace folded into a modern city. Drift through alleys, then join the Riva for people-watching. History you can still live in.
- Kotor: A walled town at the end of a fjord-like bay. Climb the zigzag path for huge views or linger in cool courtyards. Atmospheric and enclosed by mountains.
- Kerkira (Corfu): Venetian echoes and bright balconies. Explore the fortresses, then take a coffee on the Liston. The island mood starts right in town.
- La Goulette (Tunis): Gateway to Tunis and Carthage. Ride the light rail to the medina or visit ancient harbour ruins. North Africa is an easy day trip.
- Tangier: Atlantic meets Mediterranean on a breezy headland. Wander the kasbah and Grand Socco before a seafront stroll. Colourful, quick to charm.
