- Santa Cruz (Tenerife): A working city with beaches and culture within reach. See the Auditorio, browse the market at Nuestra Señora de África, or head inland to La Laguna. Teide National Park is an option for a bigger day out.
- Las Palmas (Gran Canaria): Historic Vegueta and city beaches side by side. Visit Casa de Colón, walk Las Canteras, or find tapas near the cathedral. It’s easy to mix museums with sea air.
- Arrecife (Lanzarote): Low-rise streets, volcanic landscapes and César Manrique’s touch. Explore Jameos del Agua or Timanfaya National Park, then pause by Charco de San Ginés. The island’s geology steals the show.
- Cádiz (tours to Seville): Cádiz offers grand squares and sea light, while Seville tempts with the Alcázar and cathedral. Choose a day in the old quarter of Cádiz or take the trip inland. Either way, expect good food and plenty of history.
- Lisbon: Miradouros, tiled façades and river views. Ride a historic tram, visit Belém’s monuments and Pastéis de Belém, or wander Alfama’s lanes. Sunset over the Tagus is a fine finish.
