Ports of Call
Cruise from Southampton
- Vigo: A major fishing port in Galicia, Spain, on the Atlantic Ocean. The old town has narrow streets and traditional seafood restaurants. From Vigo, it is possible to visit the Cíes Islands, part of a national park.
- Lisbon: The capital of Portugal, known for its historic hillsides and vintage yellow trams. Key sights include the Belém Tower, St. George’s Castle, and the historic Alfama district. The city has a rich maritime history and a distinctive, relaxed character.
- Seville (Cadiz): The port of Cadiz provides access to Seville, the capital of Andalusia. Seville is famous for flamenco dancing, the Alcázar palace complex, and the Giralda, a former minaret converted to a bell tower. Cadiz itself is one of Western Europe’s oldest cities.
- La Coruna: A city in the Galicia region of northwest Spain. It is known for the Tower of Hercules, an ancient Roman lighthouse that is still in operation. The city features a long, glass-fronted promenade known as the ‘Galerías’.
- Bilbao (Getxo): A major city in the Basque Country, northern Spain, accessed via the port of Getxo. The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, with its modern architecture, is a primary landmark. Visitors can also explore the Casco Viejo (Old Town).
