Ports of Call
Cruise from Southampton
- Alesund: Curved facades and islets linked by bridges. Climb or bus to Mount Aksla for island-sprinkled views, then follow Brosundet past boats and warehouses. The Sunnmøre Museum brings turf roofs and boat sheds into the picture. Coffee by the harbour is a simple, good ending.
- Tromsø (Overnight onboard): A walkable Arctic city with museums and a cable car close at hand. Ride Fjellheisen for dusk colours, then hunt the aurora after dark if the forecast smiles. The Polar Museum and Arctic Cathedral fill the day with local stories and clean lines. The overnight takes the rush out of winter light.
- Narvik (Overnight onboard): War history, railway legend and huge skies. The cable car whisks you above the fjord for long views and snow underfoot; the museum gives context to a brutal wartime past. On clear nights, the aurora often arcs low on the horizon. A second evening allows both culture and sky-watching.
- Stavanger (Norway): White wooden houses and a compact old town by the quay. Visit the Norwegian Petroleum Museum for a surprisingly deep take on energy, or boat into Lysefjord for walls of rock and sea. Coffee spots cluster around Øvre Holmegate’s colourful row. It’s tidy, friendly and easy to navigate.
