Ports of Call
Cruise from Southampton
- Stavanger (Norway): Cobbled lanes and clapboard houses set a calm tone. Climb Valbergtårnet for views, browse Øvre Holmegate’s colourful strip, or dip into the city’s museums. Fjord trips start right from the harbour.
- Olden: A small village with big glacier country behind it. Take the Loen Skylift for fjord panoramas or a coach to Briksdal Glacier. The setting is the star, even on a gentle stroll.
- Innvikfjorden (Scenic Cruising): Narrow waters, high slopes and changing light. Keep watch for farms perched improbably on green shelves. Cameras out; this is slow travel at its best.
- Ålesund: Art Nouveau facades and island views. Walk up the 418 steps to Aksla viewpoint, visit the Jugendstilsenteret, or explore the harbourfront. It’s compact, handsome and easy to navigate.
- Haugesund: North Sea heritage with a lively quay. See Haraldshaugen national monument, wander the pedestrian centre, or take a coastal walk. It’s a relaxed final taste of western Norway.
